I have deleted Demonic Cafe Book Five, Always A Golem, Never a Bride from Amazon. I initially said I wasn’t going to do this and just learn to live with it the way it is, but I realized I couldn’t do that.
The book got a 1-star rating on Amazon, which is not in and of itself a concern; all my books have at least a few 1-star ratings. What was different this time was I could think of half a dozen reasons why this reader might have given the book one star, and they were all valid reasons. Then I wondered, what am I doing, putting out books that I’m not proud of?
The reason why Book 5 was kind of rushed is I was trying to start writing on a schedule, as opposed to the earlier books that were finished when they were finished, period. I basically published the first draft because I would have missed my deadline otherwise. Being able to write faster is a worthy goal, but I shouldn’t have put out a poor quality book in the name of expediency.
Anyway, I’m hopeful I will eventually be able to publish an improved Book 5 in this series. The thing that makes it hard is that it’s not like the entire book is terrible: there are parts of it that I really like, parts I need to keep. Figuring out how to maintain those scenes while redoing pretty much the entire plot is going to be a challenge. Wish me luck!
